Hello LGBT Caucus Members! My name is Nicholas (Nick) Heck and I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology at The University of Montana. Currently, I work under the mentorship of Dr. Bryan Cochran studying the development of substance use disorders among sexual minority youth. Recently, my work has centered on identifying and evaluating environmental factors, primarily high school gay-straight alliances, which offset risks for developing substance use disorders and other forms of psychopathology. As a therapist in training, I work with a variety of clients and especially enjoy working with adolescents and members of the transgender community.
