|
Derrick is a fifth year PhD student in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research interests lie in primary and secondary HIV prevention in the United States, specifically among sexual minority male populations of color. He is particularly interested in how masculine ideology operates among these groups of men and how it influences the formation of integrated identity, social networks, and ultimately sexual behavior. He has held leadership positions with the HIV/STD control section of the North Carolina Public Health Association, and has also served as an HIV test counselor in the local community for the past six years.
